The Glengarry News - Glengarry Special - - Discover Glengarry Year-round -

If you’re a nature lover then North Glengarry is the place for you. We’ve got a great hiking adventure that’s sure to please everyone.

The Glengarry Trails system has been a major attraction in the Alexandria area for a number of years now. It all began when a group of volunteers decided that a four-season, multi-use, nature trail would benefit visitors and residents alike.

Through the years the trails have been maintained by a dedicated group of volunteers, The Friends of the Glengarry Trails Association, who works to keep the trails in good condition all yearround. The group has been able to create a 15kilometre trail system through some unique and rare ecological areas, such as the Garry Fen, which many consider to be the absolute jewel of the Glengarry Trails system.

A map of the trails can be seen above.

Tour the website at www.glengarrytrails.com to learn more about the environment in which the trails traverse.

Then, come see the beauty of the trails and walk, cycle, cross-country ski, snowshoe, geocache, bird watch or photograph, with a friend, family or group.

Please follow the basic trail use etiquette, for instance dogs should be kept on a leash, poop and scoop, refrain from picking plants and flowers.

Leave only footprints and take many pictures!

See you on the Trails!
