Better views of the action at Cornwall Speedway
Drivers and fans no doubt noticed many improvements when they arrived for kick-off of a new season at the Cornwall Motor Speedway.
More than 400 loads of clay were brought in last fall to improve the racing surface. The inclination of the backstretch was also changed to enhance safety aspect and increase speeds.
To help prepare the track a new water truck was purchased. Some features were added to offer more flexibilities in watering the clay; this will be beneficial in speeding things up on race night especially during intermission time. A more recent tow truck was also acquired to facilitate the work of the towing crew.
The pit stands were raised by 18 inches to enhance the visibility for fans and race teams; cement blocks were added in front of the bleachers to improve safety.
Addressing a pressing need, eight toilets in the women’s washroom were changed.
All three towers now have new speakers in them; this will enhance the experience for all booth occupants as they will hear announcers and be more aware of what is going on at the race track. A new speaker was also added in the pits to help race teams understand instructions coming from the pit tower.
A survey has shown that fans want pizza logs, which will replace conventional slices.
