Two area residents charged with drug offences
Two area residents have been charged with drug related offences.
The Cornwall Community Police Service recently charged a 51-year-old Maxville man with possession of marijuana and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
Russell Robinson was arrested February 21 after he allegedly travelled to Cornwall the previous day to have a package containing the drug shipped to a Prince Edward Island address. He was subsequently released and is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court March 24.
February 26, Ashley Marshall, 23, of North Glengarry, was charged with possession of marijuana following an Ontario Provincial Police traffic stop on Park Avenue in Alexandria. The accused was later released and is scheduled to appear in Alexandria court April 8.
A 33-year-old Lachine man was arrested February 24 following an investigation into what was initially a dangerous driving complaint on County Road 34 in South Glengarry the previous day.
The suspect, who cannot be named in order to protect the identity of the victim, was charged with two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, as well as criminal harassment, forcible confinement and domestic mischief.
He was charged after an investigation indicated that he had driven his vehicle in an erratic manner towards his ex-spouse’s vehicle, causing her to take eva- sive action. There was a history of domestic-related incidents of harassment, confinement and mischief involving the couple at various homes they’d resided in across South Glengarry.
The Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP detachment charged two North Glengarry male youths with shoplifting after they allegedly stole a PlayStation video game from a business on Main Street, Alexandria February 21. Both suspects were subsequently released and are scheduled to appear in Alexandria court April 8.
The OPP detachment is investigating the recent theft of approximately 80 to 90 cases of “Vachon- type” snack pastries from a storage unit on Tyotown Road in South Glengarry. The theft took place sometime on the night of February 26-27.
