Two area res­i­dents charged with drug of­fences

Two area res­i­dents have been charged with drug re­lated of­fences.

The Corn­wall Com­mu­nity Po­lice Ser­vice re­cently charged a 51-year-old Maxville man with pos­ses­sion of mar­i­juana and pos­ses­sion for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing.

Rus­sell Robin­son was ar­rested Feb­ru­ary 21 after he al­legedly trav­elled to Corn­wall the pre­vi­ous day to have a pack­age con­tain­ing the drug shipped to a Prince Ed­ward Is­land ad­dress. He was sub­se­quently re­leased and is sched­uled to ap­pear in Corn­wall court March 24.

Feb­ru­ary 26, Ash­ley Mar­shall, 23, of North Glen­garry, was charged with pos­ses­sion of mar­i­juana fol­low­ing an On­tario Pro­vin­cial Po­lice traf­fic stop on Park Av­enue in Alexan­dria. The ac­cused was later re­leased and is sched­uled to ap­pear in Alexan­dria court April 8.


A 33-year-old La­chine man was ar­rested Feb­ru­ary 24 fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into what was ini­tially a dan­ger­ous driv­ing com­plaint on County Road 34 in South Glen­garry the pre­vi­ous day.

The sus­pect, who can­not be named in order to pro­tect the iden­tity of the vic­tim, was charged with two counts of dan­ger­ous op­er­a­tion of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle, as well as crim­i­nal ha­rass­ment, forcible con­fine­ment and do­mes­tic mis­chief.

He was charged after an in­ves­ti­ga­tion in­di­cated that he had driven his ve­hi­cle in an er­ratic man­ner to­wards his ex-spouse’s ve­hi­cle, caus­ing her to take eva- sive ac­tion. There was a his­tory of do­mes­tic-re­lated in­ci­dents of ha­rass­ment, con­fine­ment and mis­chief in­volv­ing the cou­ple at var­i­ous homes they’d resided in across South Glen­garry.


The Stor­mont, Dun­das and Glen­garry OPP de­tach­ment charged two North Glen­garry male youths with shoplift­ing after they al­legedly stole a PlayS­ta­tion video game from a busi­ness on Main Street, Alexan­dria Feb­ru­ary 21. Both sus­pects were sub­se­quently re­leased and are sched­uled to ap­pear in Alexan­dria court April 8.


The OPP de­tach­ment is in­ves­ti­gat­ing the re­cent theft of ap­prox­i­mately 80 to 90 cases of “Va­chon- type” snack pas­tries from a stor­age unit on Ty­otown Road in South Glen­garry. The theft took place some­time on the night of Feb­ru­ary 26-27.
