“This is another wonderful opportunity for business,” Anne Leduc said at a recent Alexandria and District Chamber of Commerce meeting. The feasibility study and action plan are designed to “ensure the sustainability of local enterprises that are crucial to the economic welfare of our communities,” according to the Glengarry Inter-Agency Group.
The organization is hoping that once the ten-week project is wrapped up, more government funding can be secured to ensure the report “does not sit on the shelf,” said Mrs. Leduc, a former economic development officer in South Glengarry and Hawkesbury who is acting as a consultant for GIAG. The training needs assessment will include consultations with employers and workers. The objectives are to identify gaps and opportunities to enable employers to adapt to “today’s employment realities.”
