Char-Lan girls open with vic­tory at hockey provin­cials in Kenora

It was a solid start on Monday in Kenora, as the girls hockey team from Char-Lan DHS skated to a 2-1 win over the host St. Thomas Aquinas Saints.

The Cru­saders, un­de­feated cham­pi­ons of SD&G and EOSSAA, en­tered the pro­vin­cial A/AA tour­na­ment as the sec­ond seed over­all.

Just get­ting to the com­pe­ti­tion in far north­west­ern On­tario was an adventure, as the girls spent last week fundrais­ing and plan­ning their trip. They flew out on Sun­day to Win­nipeg, and were then bused to Kenora.

The girls were sched­uled to play twice yes­ter­day (March 10) to com­plete the round-robin por­tion of the com­pe­ti­tion, but re­sults were not avail­able be­fore
