The Creation a unique performance
The Amaryllis Women’s and Men’s Choirs will be joining the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra for a performance in Vankleek Hill next month.
The concert, featuring a performance of Franz Joseph Haydn’s The Creation, will take place at Knox Presbyterian Church Sunday, April 12 at 4 p.m.
Amaryllis Choirs president Kathleen MacEwen is hoping for a large turn-out for the concert that will feature Orchestra Sacre Sinfonia Orchestra, made up of members of the Ottawa Symphony Orchestra and National Arts Centre Orchestra, three soloists, the Sacred Music Society and The
Sparrows Children’s Choir.
Tickets are available at Scotiabank and Home Hardware, in Vankleek Hill, or at amaryllischoir.ca. No tickets will be sold at the door.
The Creation is a big production so it’s not often performed, said Ms. MacEwen.
“It requires a big orchestra and a big chorus,” she adds.
“It’s a unique experience. You won’t hear this work being performed very often. It’s beautiful; it does compare with Handel’s Messiah in beauty and majesty.”
