Midget Glens draw even in UCMHL final series
BY SEAN BRAY Sports Editor A day after dressing just eight players and dropping a 4- 2 decision in Smiths Falls, Alexandria’s midget house Glens rebounded with a comefrom-behind 4-3 win on home ice to tie the UCMHL championship series at two points.
The Glens began the third period of the March 23 contest trailing 3-1, before rallying with three unanswered, power-play goals.
Smiths Falls #2 had four players suspended for the Monday night match, where the Bears continued to rack up penalty minutes.
Jordan Lunny had four points in the game, including two goals. The other markers were notched by Alex MacMaster. Other helpers went to MacMaster, Nathan Cuerrier, Brendan Lauzon, Tavish MacPherson, Shawn McDonell, and Nick Hansen. Both goaltenders,
Johnathan Noel and Michaël Deguire, saw action in the contest.
Game three of the five-point series was scheduled for last night in Smiths Falls, with the fourth contest booked for tonight, March 25, at the Glengarry Sports Palace. Puck drop is set for 7:30 p.m.
Should it be needed, a fifth contest will be back in Smiths Falls on March 30.
During the regular season, both teams had 22-2 records. The Glens scored more goals (196 to 151), while the Bears allowed fewer ( 56 to 69). However, by far, Smiths Falls racked up the most penalty minutes, chalking up over 1,000.
