Celtics rally to win

The Corn­wall Celtics ju­nior ‘C’ lacrosse team found it­self trail­ing by three goals in the third pe­riod of Sun­day af­ter­noon ac­tion against the Bar­rie Bombers, be­fore ral­ly­ing to tie and then win in over­time, 10-8.

The county’s own Aodin MacDonell notched the game-win­ner with un­der three min­utes re­main­ing in the ex­tra ses­sion. He also scored in the third pe­riod, kick­start­ing the comeback, where the Corn­wall side scored five goals in a row.

Amongst the county con­tin­gent on the Celtics crew, league-lead­ing point-get­ter Tyler Akins was held to just a goal and two as­sists in this one. Akins tops the league, through three weeks of ac­tion, in goals, as­sists, and points.

The brothers Vipond, Bren­dan and Ryan, were held off the score­sheet, but con­trib­uted with the tena­cious phys­i­cal­ity. Bren­dan was also counted on to win key face­offs.
