U15 girls Hearts top ERSL, advance to Shield final
Glengarry’s U15 girls Hearts soccer team has qualified to play in the East Region Shield final, on Sept. 17 in Perth, against a team from Russell.
The Hearts earned the berth with a 1-0 victory in the ER Shield semifinal, played Aug. 24 against Ottawa City Silver. Bridget Lefebvre had the lone tally for Glengarry.
ERSL league play concluded on Aug. 29, when the Hearts got past Ottawa City Blue 3-1. Scoring for Glengarry were Alexia Demers, Michaela Kunz, and Kady Jeaurond.
The victory cemented a 2017 record of 11 wins and 1 loss to top the U15 table, with
33 points. The team also ranked first in goal differential, at +42, and recorded 5 shutouts.
Kunz was first amongst her team members in goal scoring over the summer, having found the back of the net 23 times, including league and ER Shield play.
Katherine Thompson backstopped four of her team’s five shutouts.
