Stu­dents are be­ing en­cour­aged to ap­ply to be­come a Leg­isla­tive Page at Queen’s Park. The pro­gram al­lows Grade 7 and 8 stu­dents to spend three weeks at the pro­vin­cial leg­is­la­ture, learn­ing how the Pro­vin­cial Par­lia­ment works while con­tin­u­ing their school stud­ies in key sub­jects. The ap­pli­ca­tion process is com­pet­i­tive; the dead­line to sub­mit ap­pli­ca­tions is Novem­ber 15 for Grade 8 stu­dents. Grade 7 stu­dents can choose to ap­ply for ei­ther of the next spring or fall ses­sions of the Leg­is­la­ture; the dead­lines are Novem­ber 15 and June 15 re­spec­tively. “Our pages make our rid­ings proud and can use this ex­pe­ri­ence to broaden their knowl­edge of how pro­vin­cial and Cana­dian par­lia­men­tary democ­racy works,” says Stor­mont-Dun­das-South Glen­garry MPP Jim McDonell. “A page’s day can be very in­tense.
