New board head
John Cameron, Associate Director of Education with the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, will succeed William Gartland when the 32year veteran education resigns from his director’s post in January.
Mr. Cameron, whose current post includes supervision of schools in the Cornwall area, has been an educator for 26 years.
Board Chair Todd Lalonde says: “Mr. Cameron’s dedication to Catholic education cannot be questioned. He has demonstrated for many years, his dedication to ensuring that students have the opportunity to flourish in a faithfilled learning environment. He is a strong advocate for our beliefs and values and I look forward to working closely with him in this new role.”
Mr. Gartland announced recently that he would retire at the end of 2017 after serving as a teacher and an administrator for the past 32 years. He has been CDSBEO Director of Education for the past 11 years.
Mr. Cameron has been a teacher, vice-principal, principal, superintendent.
With an enrolment of 12,800 students, the Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario operates 40 elementary and 10 secondary schools across eight counties.
