CRTF ar­rests

Mem­bers of the Corn­wall Re­gional Task Force (CRTF) ar­rested two Québec men and seized more than 1,100 kg of il­le­gal fine-cut tobacco fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion in South Glen­garry Septem­ber 19.

Felix St. Ge­orges-Gobeil, 22, and Drake Simp­son-Grat­ton, 19, were charged with pos­ses­sion of un­stamped tobacco. They were ap­pre­hended after be­ing spot­ted al­legedly un­load­ing cargo from a boat to an on­shore van near West­ley’s Point, and at­tempt­ing to flee from po­lice into a nearby corn­field.

Both were lo­cated and ar­rested shortly there­after with as­sis­tance from the SD&G OPP and an OPP ca­nine unit.

A search of the van un­cov­ered 65 black garbage bags con­tain­ing a to­tal of 1,161 kgs of con­tra­band tobacco. They are to ap­pear in Corn­wall court Novem­ber 21.
