November 4 at approximately 7:20 p.m., Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry (SD&G) Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to a report of a theft of a motorcycle from a residence on Loch Garry Road, North Glengarry Township. Sometime that day a 2008 Blue and White Suzuki GSXR motorcycle with Ontario plate (8187Z) was removed from the property. An investigation continues.
A 34-year-old South Glengarry man was charged with mischief and unlawfully being in a dwelling house following an incident at a residence on County Road 34 in South Glengarry November 2. The suspect, whose name was not released in order to protect the identity of the victim, is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court on November 28.
Murder trial next year
An Ottawa man charged with accessory after the fact to murder after another Ottawa man who later died was dropped off at l’Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital under mysterious circumstances last June is scheduled to stand trial in the spring. Anh Quang-Nguyen, 29, was apprehended by the SD&G OPP on Highway 34 in South Glengarry June 5 shortly after he and Tri Minh Hoang, 61, of Montreal, allegedly left the dying victim, 29-year-old Khanh Nguyen, at the hospital and sped away. His three-day trial is slated to begin April 23. Mr. Quang-Nguyen will appear in Cornwall court on November 23 and 24 for a bail review hearing. His defence counsel will also submit a Garofoli application, a motion to exclude evidence collected under a search warrant. Both suspects also face charges of marijuana production.
