A large field of candidates is seeking votes in North and South Glengarry in preparation for municipal council and school board elections in October.

Who are the candidates? What are their priorities? How do they plan to tackle the issues?

The Glengarry News is trying to answer those questions through a series of candidate profiles that will be published in the weeks leading up to decision day. The profiles are based on a questionnaire The News sent to candidates in North and South Glengarry.

In this edition, we will present articles on the North Glengarry Deputy Mayor hopefuls. In subsequent editions we will detail the platforms of the South Glengarry Deputy Mayor and councillor candidates, the North Glengarry councillor candidates and those seeking the Upper Canada District School Board trustee’s post.

WELCOME ADDITION: Garlic had a special place of its own at Sunday’s Festival of Flavours in Vankleek Hill, where the Lions Club set up an area near the arena for a celebration of the pungent bulb. As usual, the food extravaganza drew huge crowds. More inside.
