‘Ex­cit­ing’ truck stop ven­ture

The Curry Hill Truck Stop may have some com­pe­ti­tion – di­rectly across the road – in the near fu­ture.

While South Glen­garry coun­cil re­cently re­jected a site plan con­trol agree­ment for the ini­tial phase of the project due to is­sues in­volv­ing un­paved por­tions of the prop­erty’s park­ing lot, the mu­nic­i­pal­ity stopped short of re­ject­ing the de­vel­op­ment al­to­gether.

“I just won­der with a large truck park­ing area if we might have dust con­cerns in the fu­ture dur­ing the sum­mer,” said Mayor Ian McLeod at the most re­cent coun­cil meet­ing. “And I know in Lan­caster that we had an in­ci­dent a num­ber of years ago where the park­ing lot was sup­posed to have been as­phalt and the park­ing lot kind of dropped.”
