Lost in the voter system

The Glengarry News - - The Opinion Page -

The Editor, I’m beginning to understand why everyone does not make the effort to vote in municipal council and school board elections.

Friends told me that they received information in the mail regarding the process of voting (i.e. on-line; PIN number; advance poll, etc.)

Realizing that I had not received any of this information, I contacted Voterlookup.ca on line, to verify that my name was registered. This site is managed by MPAC - Municipal Property Assessment Corporation.

I entered all relevant requested information but was informed, “could not find a property at this address.”

I called the clerk at the Township of North Glengarry. She recorded my information more than two week ago, but I still have not received my package.

Once more, today, I inquired at Voterlookup.ca. I received the same message advising that there was no property at this address.

I’m wondering how many others are not listed to vote. What can I do to be assured that I am eligible?

Carol Bellware, North Glengarry
