Tyke ’Cats to vie for NCAFA ti­tle

BY SEAN BRAY Sports Edi­tor The Corn­wall Wild­cats tyke 1 NCAFA foot­ball team will play for the ‘ A’ cham­pi­onship this week­end, af­ter beat­ing the tyke 2 Wild­cats last Sun­day, 28-18.

A trio of Glen­garry boys has been key all sea­son for the vic­to­ri­ous squad, which ran the table with an 8-0 record, over the course of the reg­u­lar sea­son.

With two play­off wins un­der their belts, the Wild­cats’ fi­nal chal­lenge will come Nov. 4 at 9 a. m., in Ne­pean, ver­sus Cum­ber­land Blue.

In the Oct. 27 semi­fi­nal, Con­nor Hamelin had 15 rushes for 217 yards. The county boy scored three touch­downs, chalk­ing up a trio of solo tack­les and six as­sisted tack­les.

El­liot Keenan had four solo and 10 as­sisted tack­les, and An­drew Wilt­shire had a tackle and a fum­ble re­cov­ery.

Round­ing off the team’s scor­ing was Bryce Cam­plin, with one touch­down and a pair of two­point con­vert kicks (at this level, kicks are worth two points).

Other Wild­cats news

In other Wild­cats re­sults last week­end, the mos­quito team’s sea­son came to an end with a 26-0 loss to the Ne­pean Eagles, in ‘A’ semi­fi­nal play.

In the ‘B’ di­vi­sion semi­fi­nal last week­end, the pee­wee Wild­cats pre­vailed 35- 12 over West Car­leton, to ad­vance to the Nov. 3 ‘B’ cup fi­nal, in Ne­pean.

Open­ing kick­off is set for 2 p.m., with the Bel Air Lions pro­vid­ing the op­po­si­tion.
