Motors lifted, coke seized
Stormont- Dundas- Glengarry Ontario Provincial Police detachment officers are is investigating the theft of two boat motors from a property on County Road 2 in South Glengarry. During the theft, which occurred sometime in the previous months, a boat was damaged and a Bow railing was also stolen.
A 32-year-old Cornwall man was charged with trespassing at night October 22 when police responded at 12:16 a.m. to a report of a suspicious person outside a residence in South Glengarry Township. Jonathan Lauzon was also charged with failing to comply with a probation order and conditions of an undertaking.
The Cornwall Community Police Service charged a 26-yearold Williamstown man with three counts of assault and one count of mischief under $5,000 following two separate incidents involving his girlfriend October 7 and 28.
The Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF), with assistance from the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry OPP, recently charged a 20-year-old Hogansburg, N.Y. man with possession of 341 kilograms of unstamped tobacco.
Charles Thomas, who also faces charges of possession of unmarked cigarettes, was arrested on the evening of October 10 after CRTF members in South Glengarry observed the transfer of several large garbage bags from a boat to the back of a pickup truck, allegedly driven by Mr. Thomas. The suspect fled after being spotted by police before abandoning the vehicle in a field on South Branch Road. However, he was later located and apprehended, with the help of the OPP. Mr. Thomas is scheduled to appear in Cornwall court November 20.
A Cornwall man charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking will appear in Alexandria court December 5. Members of the Cornwall Regional Task Force (CRTF) arrested Jeffrey Cameron, 47, on October 17 while conducting a border integrity operation along the St. Lawrence River near Cornwall. While doing so, officers observed the exchange of a duffel bag between the occupants of a boat and the driver of a black SUV. When police tried to stop the suspect, he refused to pull over and fled. The vehicle was found a short time later and he was subsequently arrested. A police search of the SUV uncovered 16 bricks of cocaine, weighing just over 18 kilograms. Mr. Cameron was also charged with flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
