Mo­tors lifted, coke seized

Stor­mont- Dun­das- Glen­garry On­tario Pro­vin­cial Po­lice de­tach­ment of­fi­cers are is in­ves­ti­gat­ing the theft of two boat mo­tors from a prop­erty on County Road 2 in South Glen­garry. Dur­ing the theft, which oc­curred some­time in the pre­vi­ous months, a boat was dam­aged and a Bow rail­ing was also stolen.

Tres­pass­ing charge

A 32-year-old Corn­wall man was charged with tres­pass­ing at night Oc­to­ber 22 when po­lice re­sponded at 12:16 a.m. to a re­port of a sus­pi­cious per­son out­side a res­i­dence in South Glen­garry Town­ship. Jonathan Lau­zon was also charged with fail­ing to com­ply with a pro­ba­tion or­der and con­di­tions of an un­der­tak­ing.

Mis­chief

The Corn­wall Com­mu­nity Po­lice Ser­vice charged a 26-yearold Wil­liamstown man with three counts of as­sault and one count of mis­chief un­der $5,000 fol­low­ing two sep­a­rate in­ci­dents in­volv­ing his girl­friend Oc­to­ber 7 and 28.

Con­tra­band seized

The Corn­wall Re­gional Task Force (CRTF), with as­sis­tance from the Stor­mont, Dun­das and Glen­garry OPP, re­cently charged a 20-year-old Ho­gans­burg, N.Y. man with pos­ses­sion of 341 kilo­grams of un­stamped to­bacco.

Charles Thomas, who also faces charges of pos­ses­sion of un­marked cig­a­rettes, was ar­rested on the evening of Oc­to­ber 10 af­ter CRTF mem­bers in South Glen­garry ob­served the trans­fer of sev­eral large garbage bags from a boat to the back of a pickup truck, al­legedly driven by Mr. Thomas. The sus­pect fled af­ter be­ing spot­ted by po­lice be­fore aban­don­ing the ve­hi­cle in a field on South Branch Road. How­ever, he was later lo­cated and ap­pre­hended, with the help of the OPP. Mr. Thomas is sched­uled to ap­pear in Corn­wall court Novem­ber 20.

Co­caine seized

A Corn­wall man charged with pos­ses­sion of co­caine for the pur­pose of traf­fick­ing will ap­pear in Alexan­dria court De­cem­ber 5. Mem­bers of the Corn­wall Re­gional Task Force (CRTF) ar­rested Jef­frey Cameron, 47, on Oc­to­ber 17 while con­duct­ing a bor­der in­tegrity op­er­a­tion along the St. Lawrence River near Corn­wall. While do­ing so, of­fi­cers ob­served the ex­change of a duf­fel bag be­tween the oc­cu­pants of a boat and the driver of a black SUV. When po­lice tried to stop the sus­pect, he re­fused to pull over and fled. The ve­hi­cle was found a short time later and he was sub­se­quently ar­rested. A po­lice search of the SUV un­cov­ered 16 bricks of co­caine, weigh­ing just over 18 kilo­grams. Mr. Cameron was also charged with flight from po­lice and dan­ger­ous op­er­a­tion of a mo­tor ve­hi­cle.
