Bay Street ad­vances Cana­dian stocks ral­lied ahead of the hol­i­day long week­end, led by en­ergy shares as oil prices rose, while the fi­nan­cials and ma­te­ri­als groups also climbed. Cana­dian mar­kets will be closed for Vic­to­ria Day. Sun­cor En­ergy rose 1.3 per cent, help­ing en­ergy-sec­tor gains. Royal Bank of Canada added 0.7 per cent.

Wall Street gains U.S. stocks rose but closed be­low their ses­sion highs on con­cerns about U.S. Pres­i­dent Don­ald Trump, af­ter new re­ports re­lated to a fed­eral in­ves­ti­ga­tion into pos­si­ble co-or­di­na­tion be­tween Rus­sia and Mr. Trump’s elec­tion cam­paign. Au­todesk was up 14.7 per cent af­ter re­port­ing bet­ter-than-ex­pected quar­terly rev­enue.
