GDCI Fall sports action
The GDCI Senior and Junior girls’ basketball seasons are short with only nine regular season games.
Only having played four games so far, the senior team finds itself sitting in fifth place with only five games left.
The first game of the season was onWednesday, September 20 and the senior team beat F.E. Madill 44-27.
Following that win, on the same day, the senior team competed against St. Michael and heartbreakingly lost 62-15.
The next game was on Wednesday, September 27 against Stratford Central. Despite the close score, GDCI unfortunately fell 42-36.
Just last week onWednesday, October 4, the senior team played against St. Anne’s and defeated them 59-23.
The junior girls’ basketball team, after having only played four games as well, find their position at sixth place in the standings, with six games left in the regular season.
Their first gamewas against F.E. Madill on September 20. The game resulted in a loss for GDCI, losing 31-23.
In the same day, the junior girls competed against St. Michael and lost another game, 31-24.
Starting the season offwith two losses, the junior girls did not let that deter them, and in the next two games, defeated their opponents.
On September 27, the girls played against Stratford Central and won 40-30, and then last week on October 4, won against St. Anne’s, 42-21.
According to Coach Kovats, both the senior and junior girls’ basketball teams are hopeful and more than likely to make playoffs.
