Im­paired by drug charge laid – Ex­eter

(SOUTH HURON, ON) Huron County On­tario Pro­vin­cial Po­lice (OPP) along with the Huron-Perth Com­mu­nity Street Crimes Unit (CSCU) are cur­rently in­ves­ti­gat­ing the theft of a $60,000 skid steer stolen from an Ex­eter busi­ness.

On Septem­ber 18, 2018 Huron OPP mem­bers com­menced an in­ves­ti­ga­tion into the theft of a 2014 John Deere skid steer that was stolen from a busi­ness lo­cated on Thames Road West in Ex­eter.

Po­lice were in­formed the skid steer was parked in the yard around 4:30 p.m. on Septem­ber 12 and when the op­er­a­tor re­turned to work on Septem­ber 18 he no­ticed the ma­chine was miss­ing. Upon check­ing with other em­ploy­ees it was quickly de­ter­mined the skid steer had in fact been stolen.

The yel­low 2014 John Deere skid steer is a 328E model val­ued at ap­prox­i­mately $60,000. This par­tic­u­lar ma­chine has two stain­less steel after-mar­ket side mir­rors. (SOUTH HURON, ON) - Huron County On­tario Pro­vin­cial Po­lice (OPP) has charged a 60-year-old South Huron res­i­dent with Im­paired Oper­a­tion by a Drug fol­low­ing a traf­fic stop that took place in Ex­eter this past week­end.

At around 11:37 a.m. on Sun­day, Septem­ber 16, 2018 Huron OPP mem­bers re­ceived in­for­ma­tion about a car that was trav­el­ling north­bound on Lon­don Road (High­way 4) head­ing into Ex­eter in an er­ratic man­ner.

Within a few min­utes po­lice had the sus­pect ve­hi­cle stopped at the north end of Ex­eter and were speak­ing with the driver.

Upon speak­ing with the male driver the in­ves­ti­gat­ing of­fi­cer had rea­son to be­lieve the driver was im­paired by a drug, thus the driver was placed un­der ar­rest and trans­ported to the Lu­can OPP De­tach­ment for a Drug Recog­ni­tion Eval­u­a­tion (DRE). The driver sub­mit­ted to the DRE’s eval­u­a­tion and the driver was deemed to be im­paired by a drug.

A man of 60 years of age from South Huron has been charged with Im­paired Oper­a­tion by a Drug.

He has since been re­leased from cus­tody with a court ap­pear­ance sched­uled for Novem­ber 22, 2018 at the On­tario Court of Jus­tice Ex­eter. His li­cence has been sus­pended for an au­to­matic 90 days and his ve­hi­cle has been im­pounded for seven days.
