Break and En­ter – Goderich

(GODERICH, ON) - Huron County On­tario Pro­vin­cial Po­lice (OPP) of­fi­cers are hope­ful they will get some tips from the pub­lic to help solve a re­cent break, en­ter and theft that took place in Goderich. Some­time be­tween 4:00 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. on Tues­day, Septem­ber 18, 2018 a thief en­tered into the Goderich-Ex­eter Rail­way por­ta­ble of­fice build­ing lo­cated on Mait­land Road North through an un­locked win­dow. Once in­side the of­fice the thief stole a sil­ver Dell Lat­i­tude E5470 lap­top val­ued at $1,000.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors noted the thief used a step that was left out­side the por­ta­ble to ac­cess into the el­e­vated win­dow. Items such as the step in this case are com­monly re­ferred to as crime fa­cil­i­ta­tors by Crime Preven­tion Through En­vi­ron­men­tal De­sign (CPTED) ex­perts.
