Island’s top player gets tough test
Todd Gregory, the Island’s topranked player, was given a tough test by newcomer Su Xing at the recent Table Tennis Fall Classic in Charlottetown.
Gregory prevailed, but only after Xing had given him a major scare, taking a two-game lead and leading 5-1 in the decider, before Gregory came back to claim the A title, 12-10.
Robert Gao and Mark Gregory were the beaten semifinalists.
In the B Division, 2011 Canada Winter Games hopeful Chris Gallant defeated Alex Younker in five games, while the C Division title was claimed by David Keenlyside, who went undefeated in his pool, defeating another newcomer to the club, Mark Hsu in the final.
The next event is a team tournament, Nov. 21-22, at Stonepark school.
