Ship to Shore Restaurant & Lounge has been named as one of Canada’s 10 Best New Restaurants for 2009 by enRoute, a lifestyle magazine available on Air Canada flights.

Ship To Shore was ranked seventh on the list published Wednesday.

This is the only restaurant in Atlantic Canada that has received this award in the past two years, and only the second Island restaurant ever.

Owners Stephen Stewart and John Bil note that what the magazine enjoyed was laid-back feel and simple presentations.

The citation states that “Ship to Shore dishes some of the freshest local shellfish that most of us will ever eat.”

The restaurant opened last spring and the magazine praised the location’s menu and fresh seafood. It’s currently closed for the season and will open again in May.
