Goods and ser­vices auc­tion will be held on Tues­day, Nov. 3, at Park Royal United Church, Char­lot­te­town, with view­ing at 5 p.m. and the auc­tion beginning at 6 p.m. A great se­lec­tion of items have been do­nated, such as baked goods, gift cards, pre­serves, din­ner par­ties, golf lessons, footwear, babysit­ting ser­vices, yard work and small ap­pli­ances, as well as a few sur­prises. Auc­tion­eers are Bobby and Ar­lene Roberts. Pro­ceeds go to lo­cal church ex­penses, build­ing fund and Nicaragua trip of 2010. CUSO-VSO has hol­i­day cards for sale. Pack­ages of five are $5. The sev­enth Sy­mons Lec­ture on the State of Cana­dian Con­fed­er­a­tion will be held Nov. 3 at 1 p.m. in the Hom­burg The­atre. There is no ad­mis­sion, but tick­ets are re­quired. Book seats at the Con­fed­er­a­tion Cen­tre box of­fice. Let There Be Laugh­ter Women’s Day will be held Satur­day, Nov. 7, 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., in the Howatt Memo­rial Cen­tre at South Shore United Church (#85 Route 10 in Tryon). Women of all ages are in­vited to bring along a friend. Come and tickle the funny bone, re­new life with a morn­ing de­voted to laugh­ter and its heal­ing power. Ac­tiv­i­ties and a video pre­sen­ta­tion will fo­cus on re­claim­ing hu­mour in daily liv­ing. A light lunch will be pro­vided. The sug­gested do­na­tion is $3.
