New vis­ual arts ed­u­ca­tor at Cen­tre

Kevin Rice, di­rec­tor of the Con­fed­er­a­tion Cen­tre Art Gallery, re­cently an­nounced Becka Viau has ac­cepted the po­si­tion of vis­ual arts ed­u­ca­tor with the gallery.

“Becka Viau brings a re­mark­able pas­sion and en­thu­si­asm for the vis­ual arts to the po­si­tion and a demon­strated con­cern for com­mu­nity en­gage­ment through the arts,” Rice said in mak­ing the an­nounce­ment.

A 2008 grad­u­ate from the Nova Sco­tia Col­lege of Art and De­sign Uni­ver­sity with a bach­e­lor of fine arts, she has also stud­ied pho­tog- ra­phy at Ed­in­burgh Col­lege of Art and has been a mem­ber of the Cana­dian Craft Fed­er­a­tion and the P.E.I. Crafts Coun­cil.

She may be fa­mil­iar to many peo­ple be­cause her pho­to­graphic por­traits were pre­sented at the gallery in April and May in the Young Farm­ers ex­hi­bi­tion.
