Bible talks harshly on women’s rights

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - EDITORIAL -

There has been a lot of letters to the editor lately that quote the bible to support their views. In Genesis it is stated that because Eve seduced Adam into eating the apple, God willed women for all time must suffer increased pangs of pain in child bearing. In Exodus after Moses delivered the Ten Commandments from God, he also included instructions for

the selling of daughters. In Leviticus God tells us that a woman is unclean for 7 days after she give birth to a son, to become pure enough to enter a church it takes 33 days,

a girl means the woman is unclean for 14 days and it takes 66 days to be pure enough to enter a church. So in effect God and the Bible are saying that a woman is unclean, impure, property of a man and has no rights over her body. Carol Capper, Summerside
