Summer has finally arrived in Prince Edward Island and with it the return of the popular Close to the Ground concert series hosted by Fiddlers’ Sons with Keelin Wedge on fiddle.

For 12 years, Eddy Quinn and the band have filled the Kaylee Hall in Pooles Corner every Thursday night at 8 p.m. and this season promises to be no different.

On Thursday, July 2 Quinn is excited to be launching his first book, “Island Characters” at the very first concert of the summer.

His love of stories and affection for the people he encounters is evident in this literary debut — a collection of 33 short stories each augmented by an original song.

He is also pleased to introduce fiddler, multi-instrumentalist and singer Keelin Wedge who will be accompanying Fiddlers’ Sons each week. There will also be a very special, surprise guest appearing for opening night as well.

Close to the Ground runs every Thursday at 8pm from July 2nd until Sept. 24. The Kaylee Hall is located at the intersection of routes 3 and 4 in Pooles Corner, just outside of Montague with admission by cash only at the door.

Copies of Quinn’s book along with musical recordings will be available for sale, along with canteen service available and a 50/50 draw.

Eddy Quinn will be launching his first book titled “Island Characters” today at the Kaylee Hall in Pooles Corner at the first Close to the Ground concert of the season at 8 p.m.
