Murphy’s bowling lanes undergo extensive renovations

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - THE PROVINCE -

Murphy’s Community Centre is undergoing some extensive renovations to its bowling lanes, meaning the lanes and bar will be closed throughout the month of July.

The centre’s general manager Greg MacDougall says that the renovations will bring new equipment and décor to the lanes, including new pin-setters and scoring software.

MacDougall emphasized that although the bowling lanes and bar will be closed during the work, all other programming in the building will take place as scheduled.

Formerly known as the Basilica Rec Centre, Murphy’s Community Centre is a non-profit facility supported by Murphy’s Pharmacies.

Bowlers like Heather Doran, communications and development manager for Big Brothers Big Sisters of P.E.I., say they are excited about the changes to the facility.

“Big Brothers Big Sisters of P.E.I. has been using the bowling lanes at the centre for many, many years for our Bowl for Kids Sake fundraiser,” said Doran.

“It will be extra exciting for the 2016 BFKS teams to host our fundraiser in such a topnotch facility. We really strive to celebrate the achievements of our fundraisers with a great event.”
