Roy­als to Summerside for night game

The Winsloe Char­lot­te­town Roy­als Football Club’s un­der18 boys team re­turns to ac­tion to­day af­ter a two-week break for high school ex­ams and grad­u­a­tions. The Roy­als travel to Summerside tonight for a P.E.I. se­nior league match against Summerside United at 6:30 p.m. at Credit Union Place turf. On Sun­day, the Roy­als travel to Fred­er­ic­ton, N.B., to play the Wan­der­ers in the in­ter­lock­ing sched­ule of Mar­itime teams. Kick­off is sched­uled for 1 p.m. at Sco­tia­bank South Turf. The Roy­als are un­de­feated with a 4-0-2 record to sit atop the Is­land league stand­ings and have al­lowed a leaguelow four goals. First-year keeper Ben Wheeler and a team de­fen­sive play led by backs Mark Smith, Zach Visser and mid­field­ers Spencer Groom and Noah Bi­tar have played key roles. The Roy­als have re­lied on the goal scor­ing of strik­ers Deepak Kaninil and James Foster to lead the way. Winsloe Char­lot­te­town has also de­feated Co­diac un­der-18 team 3-2 in in­ter­lock­ing play in May.
