Royals to Summerside for night game
The Winsloe Charlottetown Royals Football Club’s under18 boys team returns to action today after a two-week break for high school exams and graduations. The Royals travel to Summerside tonight for a P.E.I. senior league match against Summerside United at 6:30 p.m. at Credit Union Place turf. On Sunday, the Royals travel to Fredericton, N.B., to play the Wanderers in the interlocking schedule of Maritime teams. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Scotiabank South Turf. The Royals are undefeated with a 4-0-2 record to sit atop the Island league standings and have allowed a leaguelow four goals. First-year keeper Ben Wheeler and a team defensive play led by backs Mark Smith, Zach Visser and midfielders Spencer Groom and Noah Bitar have played key roles. The Royals have relied on the goal scoring of strikers Deepak Kaninil and James Foster to lead the way. Winsloe Charlottetown has also defeated Codiac under-18 team 3-2 in interlocking play in May.
