Sunday Night Hootenanny to debut in Brackley Beach
Sunday Night Hootenanny will debut at Brackley Beach Community Centre on Sunday, July 5 at 7:30 p.m.
The traditional P.E.I. variety show will feature lively Don Messer/ down east fiddling by Gary Chipman, vocal performances from all genres of music, as well as step dancer, Jordan Chowen.
Chipman joins friends Billy Roy Murnaghan, Niall MacKay, Doug MacEwen, Heartz Godkin and Brian Knox . Rodney Savidant will also be joining the group on July 5th.
Gary Chipman is a well known Island musician with an accomplished career having toured with Stompin’ Tom Connors and Anna McGoldrick from Ireland. He has also performed with Don Messer and The Islanders, Mac Wiseman, Freddy Fender, John Allen Cameron, The Carleton Showband, Lucille Starr, Michelle Wright, Tommy Hunter, Tommy Common, Smiley Bates & Dave Dudley and others. He’s also played in several Island bands over the years such as Dino and The Satins, The Tremtones, The Hi-Notes and his own band.
“This show is definitely going to be unlike anything you’ve ever seen from this group before. We promise to get those toes a tappin’ and those hands a clappin'," says Chipman.
Hootenanny will run every Sunday through July, August and into September. Doors open at 7 p.m. There will be a canteen service and admission is at the door. 50/50 draw will be in support of Cystic Fibrosis. The venue is air-conditioned and wheel chair accessible.
