Musical Mondays begin at the Victoria Playhouse on July 6 with James Hill at 7:30 p.m.

Described by “The Scene,” as one of Canada’s “premiere roots musicians” his music winds a path through folk, roots, rock and Americana.

He will be accompanied by Anne Janelle who brings soaring harmony and cello to his instrumentation on ukulele, violin and drums.

“The Old Silo,” Hill’s latest album produced by indie rock hero Joel Plaskett, invites you into a world of new beginnings, old regrets, might-have-beens, burning questions, beautiful women, horny geezers and gold diggers. “If you thought James Hill was simply the ukulele wunderkind, his latest album will convince you that he is also a great songwriter” (Penguin Eggs).

James Hill grew up in Langley BC and began to play the ukulele at school in grade 4. For over 30 years, the Langley Ukulele Association has supported extra-curricular ukulele groups which allow interested students to continue with ukulele well beyond the requisite two years of classroom instruction. Hill now makes his home outside of Halifax NS from where he tours, teaches and writes.
