Investing in local social housing
The province has committed to a five-year investment of $750,000 per year to fund renovations aimed at improving social housing in Prince Edward Island.
The projects that will be funded will see upgrades to more than 20 buildings from Alberton to Souris.
This weekend, the first round of tenders will be advertised inviting business and entrepreneurs to bid on the work that will be available through this investment. These tenders include the majority of the projects that will be completed this year.
Family and Human Services Minister Doug Currie noted demand for family and seniors housing is very high and costsharing programs with the federal government are critical.
