Fam­ily plans re­union

The de­scen­dants of John and Sally Birt, who em­i­grated to P.E.I. from Eng­land in 1831, will gather in the Mount Stewart Com­mu­nity Cen­tre on Sun­day, Aug. 2, for their tri­en­nial fam­ily re­union. Seen check­ing the site and head­stone of an­ces­tors are re­union com­mit­tee mem­bers Doreen (Birt) MacIn­nis, chair­woman Norma (Jay) Dou­glas and Tr­ish (Birt) Bur­rows. Ac­tiv­i­ties will be­gin at 1 p.m. with a pot luck lunch. The pro­gram in­cludes story-telling, a sing-along, a me­mo­rial mo­ment and spe­cial guests. Ge­neal­ogy in­for­ma­tion will also be avail­able. The re­union will con­clude with a guided walk­ing tour of the Mt. Stewart Ceme­tery where John and Sally and many other fam­ily mem­bers are buried.
