Nom­i­nate a de­serv­ing se­nior for a Se­nior Is­lan­der of the Year Award

Do you know an Is­land se­nior who you be­lieve should be rec­og­nized for their con­tri­bu­tions in their com­mu­nity?

Com­mu­nity groups, or­ga­ni­za­tions and the public are en­cour­aged to nom­i­nate se­niors in their com­mu­ni­ties for the 2015 P.E.I. Se­nior Is­lan­ders of the Year Award.

“The Prince Ed­ward Is­land Se­nior Is­lan­ders of the Year Award high­lights the im­por­tant role that Is­land se­niors play in com­mu­nity and fam­ily life,” Fam­ily and Hu­man Ser­vices Doug Cur­rie.

“These awards are a great op­por­tu­nity to celebrate the va­ri­ety of con­tri­bu­tions older adults make and rec­og­nize lead­ers and men­tors of our com­mu­ni­ties.”

The an­nual award rec­og­nizes the sig­nif­i­cant con­tri­bu­tions of Is­land se­niors in many ar­eas of com­mu­nity life in­clud­ing: vol­un­teerism, artis­tic achieve­ment, fund rais­ing, com­mu­nity par­tic­i­pa­tion, ca­reer achieve­ments, fit­ness/recre­ation and other ac­tiv­i­ties.

The dead­line for nom­i­na­tions for the 2015 PEI Se­nior Is­lan­ders of the Year Award is July 15. Nom­i­na­tions will be re­viewed by mem­bers of the Prince Ed­ward Is­land Se­niors’ Sec­re­tar­iat.

To be el­i­gi­ble for an award, nom­i­nees must be a cur­rent res­i­dent of P.E.I., 65 years of age or older and must be will­ing to be nom­i­nated. The awards will be pre­sented on Oct. 2. Those wish­ing to nom­i­nate some­one for the Award can find the nom­i­na­tion form online at www.gov.pe.ca/se­niors or by call­ing 1-866-770-0588.
