Ea­gles claw op­po­si­tion in triple­header in New Brunswick

Halthorn Global Ea­gles win three times on Sun­day in New Brunswick.

The Halthorn Global Ea­gles un­der-16 girls fast­pitch team swept its three games Sun­day in Mem­ram­cook, N.B., outscor­ing op­po­nents 29-7.

Games in­cluded a a 10-0 shutout over the Monc­ton Rebels, an 11-4 vic­tory against the River Val­ley Spar­tans and dou­ble host Mem­ram­cook 8-4.

For Ea­gles head coach Chris Hal­li­well, the team was fir­ing on all cylin­ders.

“We had strong pitch­ing and de­fence all day and ev­ery player on the team con­trib­uted on of­fence,” he said. “We used small ball, great base run­ning and power hit­ting in all three games.”

Syd­ney Hal­li­well threw a com­plete game ver­sus the host squad, wrack­ing up seven strike­outs. At the plate, Kae­lyn White had four walks and scored twice while Kassie Oliver had two hits.

Against River Val­ley, the Ea­gles cruised on Lila Mitchell’s three-hit, four-run game, and two-hit out­ings by Hal­li­well and Han­nah An­n­ear. Lexi MacIn­nis threw five in­nings and struck out six bat­ters in the win.

The Ea­gles pasted 13 hits against Monc­ton. Oliver, Robyn Power and Han­nah Sent­ner each had two hits while Sarah Mur­phy added a triple.

Mar­garet Reynolds sur­ren­dered three hits in five in­nings for the win.

The Ea­gles re­turn to the field July 17 to 19 when it hosts a tour­ney in Kens­ing­ton.
