Ford wins feature race
Duskey scores two wins and a second in street stock division
Mike Duskey attempted the rare feat of a triple win in the street stock division Saturday at Oyster Bed Speedway.
After welcoming a baby girl into the world the day before, the new father opened up the division with a pair of wins.
And things looked as though they were going Duskey’s way early on in the feature race, as the driver moved forward in the hunt for the elusive third win.
A number of cautions erased Duskey’s lead and enabled some of the faster cars to work their way from the back to challenge him.
Colton Ford caught up and, after running side-by-side, completed the pass, going on to grab the checkered flag. Duskey would settle for second.
Ford was been one of the hottest drivers in the division as of late.
He also had second- and thirdplace finishes Saturday, and has wins in each of the last three weekends of racing, for four on the season.
Troy Burke and Jeff McInnis also picked up wins Saturday.
The late model division had three different winners.
Mark Leclair continued his hot streak by adding another win to his resume. The division rookie now has three wins in two weekends.
Randy Millar continued his winning ways. After a feature win the previous week, Millar drove into victory lane during a heat race.
Tyler Gauthier captured the feature in convincing fashion, becoming the fifth different driver to win a feature in the division.
Cody Byrne had a successful night in the outlaw division.
He opened up with a heat win and ended up battling division leader Kendall Palmer for the feature win.
Palmer pulled up to the race leader, but Byrne shut the door on any attempts to steal the lead, ensuring his feature win.
Byrne ended the evening with three podium finishes. Palmer would end his night with a heat win plus a second and a third.
In the four fun division, Harley Cornish continued to dominate.
In back-to-back weekends of racing, the division leader in points and wins swept all three races.
He now has 11 wins this year, with only one other driver, Jason Cornish, with a feature win.
Jeff Richard and Tyler Smith also scored wins on the night.
Action returns to the speedway July 18, when the street stock 50 lap super series will take place.
