Blue Jays’ Martin, Bautista go­ing to all-star game

Cana­dian Rus­sell Martin and Jose Bautista will rep­re­sent the Toronto Blue Jays as re­serves at the MLB all-star game on July 14.

The league an­nounced the start­ing pitch­ers and re­serves for both the Amer­i­can and Na­tional Leagues on Mon­day.

Martin is one of two re­serve catch­ers an­nounced to the AL ros­ter. Since sign­ing with the Blue Jays in the off-sea­son, Martin has en­joyed suc­cess in his first sea­son in Toronto.

In the ini­tial fan vot­ing, Martin was sec­ond in vot­ing for catch­ers with 7,521,557. Bautista was fourth in AL out­field­ers with 9,050,339. Bautista and Martin will join Toronto third base­man Josh Don­ald­son at the all-star game in Cincinnati.
