The funeral for Irene MacDonald of South Shore Villa, Crapaud, and formerly of Borden-Carleton, wife of the late John MacDonald, was held on Friday, June 26, 2015 from the Lawless Funeral Home, Kinkora, to St. Peter's Church, Seven Mile Bay, where funeral mass was celebrated at 10 a.m. by Rev. Doug MacDonald who proclaimed the Gospel and delivered the homily. Cross bearer was Jennie Jessome. Mass servers were Earle Smith and David McKenna. The first Scriptural reading was proclaimed by Metta Wright and the second scriptural reading was proclaimed by granddaughter, Mary MacDonald-Pickering. Members of St. Peter's and St. Malachy's choirs sang the hymns: Here I am Lord, The Old Rugged Cross, As we Gather at Your Table and Hail Mary, Gentle Woman. Organist was Joan Gauvin. Eucharistic minister was Donna Bernard. The pall was placed on the casket by Billy Pickering. Attending the funeral were employees of South Shore Villa and UCW members of Summerside Trinity United Church. Pallbearers were Robert Mullins, Joey Mullins, Bobby MacDonald, Malcom MacDonald, Garth Wright, Dennis Bernard, Shane Tynes and Randy Ahearn. Flowerbearers were Alice MacDonald, Hayley Tynes and Jack Pickering. All in attendance were considered to be honorary pallbearers. Interment was in the parish cemetery with Rev. Doug MacDonald officiating. Comrades of the BordenCarleton Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion held a service of remembrance at the Lawless Funeral Home on Thursday, June 25, under the direction of Comrade Keith Sigsworth. Colour Party was Reg Noonan and Arthur Ranahan. Sergeant-atarms was Mario Henry. The Last Post and Reveille was sounded by Comrade Donna Bernard.
