T-bone crash causes damages

One driver taken to hospital, two vehicles damaged in Sunday crash

The Guardian (Charlottetown) - - THE PROVINCE -

A late model Nissan Sentra and an older model Dodge Dakota quarter-ton truck are believed to be write-offs following a two-vehicle collision Sunday in Bloomfield.

West Prince RCMP Cpl. Scott Lundrigan said the Sentra was travelling east on Route 2 when the driver of the westbound Dakota attempted to make a left turn onto the Duvar Road, resulting in the car T-boning the truck.

Lundrigan said the truck’s driver indicated he didn’t see the car approaching as he made his turn.

The officer noted there is a bit of a crest in the highway approaching the T-intersection.

The truck ended up in the ditch and the car stopped on the highway.

Police, Island EMS and O’Leary Fire Department responded to the scene.

The driver of the truck was extracted from his vehicle on a backboard and transported to hospital to be checked over. He was subsequently released. The driver of the car, its lone occupant, escaped injury when the airbag deployed.
