The funeral for Vernon Rogers of Charlottetown was held on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 from Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home to St. Pius X Church where the funeral mass was celebrated by Reverend Maurice Praught, who also delivered the homily. Altar servers were members of St. Pius X Knights of Columbus. The first lesson was proclaimed by niece, Kim Gillis, and the second lesson was proclaimed by brother, Lloyd Rogers. The prayers of intercession were offered by friend, Roger Burke. The funeral mass was sung by St. Pius X funeral choir under the direction of organist, Symthia MacEachern. During the funeral, the choir sang the entrance hymn, Come And Journey, the offertory hymn, The Summons, the communion hymn, Bread Of Life, and the recessional hymn, How Great Thou Art. The pallbearers were brother, Lloyd Rogers, nephew, Chuck Gillis, members of St. Pius X Knights of Columbus - Roger Burke, Colin Cameron, Harold Gallant and Ozzie MacKinnon. Among those attending the funeral liturgy were representatives of St. Pius X Knights of Columbus. The interment took place in the Roman Catholic Cemetery.
