Photo contest puts focus on P.E.I. agriculture
Prince Edward Island’s natural beauty is an inspiration.
The gently sloping hillsides are a colourful delight with freshly cut forage, newly planted cereal and blueberry fields in blossom. Cattle graze on sunny hillsides while foxes wander through grassy pastures.
Celebrate the beauty of the province by capturing these memories with a photo to be enjoyed for years to come.
The 2015 Celebrate P.E.I. Agriculture photo contest has seven categories: farmscapes — P.E.I’s agricultural landscapes forming scenic vistas; animals of agriculture — wooly, furry, feathered or fluffy; celebrating farm families — Capture an image of at least two family members; P.E.I.’s future farmers — youth showing a passion for farming and food production; fresh from the farm — show off your culinary talents with raw or prepared P.E.I. food; new perspective — a unique glimpse of agriculture from a different point of view; the wild side — wildlife in their natural environment.
Finalists will be showcased at the Celebrate P.E.I. Agriculture display at Old Home Week 2015. The People’s Choice Award will be selected by popular vote from the category winners during Old Home Week.
For 2015, there will again be an As Youth See It award. It will be chosen from an entry of a photographer 18 years of age or younger.
Submission deadline is Friday, July 24. For full contest details, visit gov.pe.ca/agriculture/agriphotocontest or by call 1-866-PEIFARM (734-32776).
