Event to help for­mer Stan­hope School

The Stan­hope Her­itage As­so­ci­a­tion is get­ting set to host a walkathon in sup­port of main­te­nance to the for­mer Stan­hope School, now called Stan­hope Place.

On Wed­nes­day, July 15, friends and neigh­bours will be run­ning, walk­ing or bik­ing on the Stan­hope/Bayshore Road Prom­e­nade to Stan­hope Cape and back. It gets un­der­way at 6:30 p.m. with reg­is­tra­tion. There’s a min­i­mum reg­is­tra­tion fee of $5 ($10 for a fam­ily). Pledge sheets are en­cour­aged. Since 1994, Stan­hope Place has been main­tained as a com­mu­nity fa­cil­ity for year-round so­cial, re­cre­ational and civic func­tions.

Funds raised by the Stan­hope Her­itage As­so­ci­a­tion have sup­ported in­fra­struc­ture in­vest­ments and up­keep, re­cently the in­stal­la­tion of heat/cool­ing pumps, re-shin­gling of the roof and re­place­ment of the orig­i­nal win­dows. The next pri­or­i­ties are to ren­o­vate the en­trance to im­prove ac­cess to the main floor of Stan­hope Place. Do It Your Way is the ma­jor an­nual fundraiser of the Stan­hope Her­itage As­so­ci­a­tion to en­able this con­tin­u­ing work.
