Unemployment rate rises in June
P.E.I.’s unemployment rate climbed slightly in June despite the addition of 500 jobs in the province.
In June, P.E.I.’s labour force climbed by 600 people, pushing the unemployment rate to 11.1 per cent.
P.E.I.’s unemployment rate has climbed 1.2 percentage points since June 2014 due mainly to the loss of 900 jobs over that period.
Nationally the unemployment rate remained at 6.8 per cent for the fifth straight month.
