Maureen Jennings will be at the Confederation Centre Public Library to host a free event on July 14 at 7 p.m.

She’s the author of “Except the Dying,” a murder mystery set in Toronto in the late 1800s. The characters in the novel helped inspire the CBC series Murdoch Mysteries. The book was shortlisted for both the Arthur Ellis and the Anthony first novel awards. It is also the P.E.I. Public Library service selection for One Book One Island 2015.

Copies of the novel are available for loan from public libraries across the Island, and DVD copies of the television series are also available to library users.
