The fu­neral for Ver­non Rogers of Char­lot­te­town was held on Tues­day, July 7, 2015 from Hen­nessey Cut­cliffe Char­lot­te­town Fu­neral Home to St. Pius X Church where the fu­neral mass was cel­e­brated by Rev­erend Mau­rice Praught, who also de­liv­ered the homily. Al­tar servers were mem­bers of St. Pius X Knights of Colum­bus. The first les­son was pro­claimed by niece, Kim Gil­lis, and the sec­ond les­son was pro­claimed by brother, Lloyd Rogers. The prayers of in­ter­ces­sion were of­fered by friend, Roger Burke. The fu­neral mass was sung by St. Pius X fu­neral choir un­der the di­rec­tion of or­gan­ist, Symthia MacEach­ern. Dur­ing the fu­neral, the choir sang the en­trance hymn, Come And Jour­ney, the of­fer­tory hymn, The Sum­mons, the com­mu­nion hymn, Bread Of Life, and the re­ces­sional hymn, How Great Thou Art. The pall­bear­ers were brother, Lloyd Rogers, nephew, Chuck Gil­lis, mem­bers of St. Pius X Knights of Colum­bus - Roger Burke, Colin Cameron, Harold Gallant and Ozzie MacKin­non. Among those at­tend­ing the fu­neral liturgy were rep­re­sen­ta­tives of St. Pius X Knights of Colum­bus. The in­ter­ment took place in the Ro­man Catholic Ceme­tery.
