Cell­phone a fac­tor in Peakes crash

MON­TAGUE — The use of a cell­phone while driv­ing was a con­tribut­ing fac­tor in a two-ve­hi­cle col­li­sion on Satur­day. RCMP said while no one was in­jured in the col­li­sion, which oc­curred on Route 22 near Peakes at about 11 a.m., both ve­hi­cles were dam­aged be­yond re­pair. Po­lice said the col­li­sion oc­curred when one driver was us­ing a cell­phone and pulled in front of an on­com­ing ve­hi­cle. The driver ad­mit­ted to us­ing the phone and was is­sued a high­way traf­fic ticket.
