Author visiting Island libraries
Islanders will have the opportunity this week to meet Maureen Jennings, author of “Except The Dying”, the inspiration for the “Murdoch Mysteries” TV series.
“This popular series was a great selection for our annual One Book One Island program which is always a hit with Islanders,” said Education, Early Learning and Culture Minister Hal Perry.
“We are very pleased that Maureen Jennings will soon be visiting libraries in Charlottetown, Summerside and Montague to spend time with her fans.”
“Except the Dying” by is a historical mystery novel set in 1895 in Toronto.
It was shortlisted for both the prominent Arthur Ellis and the Anthony first novel awards.
It and the next two books in the “Murdoch Mystery” series were turned into made for TV movies and were the inspiration for the popular CBC series “Murdoch Mysteries”.
Copies of the books, the TV movies and the TV series have all been made available to Islanders at Prince Edward Island public libraries.
Jennings will do author events on the following dates: today at 7 p.m. at the Confederation Centre Public Library; July 15, 7 p.m., at the Summerside Rotary Library; July 16, 7 p.m., at the Montague Rotary Library.
