Au­thor vis­it­ing Is­land li­braries

Is­lan­ders will have the op­por­tu­nity this week to meet Mau­reen Jen­nings, au­thor of “Ex­cept The Dy­ing”, the in­spi­ra­tion for the “Mur­doch Mys­ter­ies” TV se­ries.

“This pop­u­lar se­ries was a great se­lec­tion for our an­nual One Book One Is­land pro­gram which is al­ways a hit with Is­lan­ders,” said Ed­u­ca­tion, Early Learn­ing and Cul­ture Min­is­ter Hal Perry.

“We are very pleased that Mau­reen Jen­nings will soon be vis­it­ing li­braries in Char­lot­te­town, Summerside and Mon­tague to spend time with her fans.”

“Ex­cept the Dy­ing” by is a his­tor­i­cal mys­tery novel set in 1895 in Toronto.

It was short­listed for both the prom­i­nent Arthur El­lis and the An­thony first novel awards.

It and the next two books in the “Mur­doch Mys­tery” se­ries were turned into made for TV movies and were the in­spi­ra­tion for the pop­u­lar CBC se­ries “Mur­doch Mys­ter­ies”.

Copies of the books, the TV movies and the TV se­ries have all been made avail­able to Is­lan­ders at Prince Ed­ward Is­land public li­braries.

Jen­nings will do au­thor events on the fol­low­ing dates: to­day at 7 p.m. at the Con­fed­er­a­tion Cen­tre Public Li­brary; July 15, 7 p.m., at the Summerside Ro­tary Li­brary; July 16, 7 p.m., at the Mon­tague Ro­tary Li­brary.
