Stratford native Jill MacFarlane shows off her silver medal she won at the North American powerlifting championships held recently in Moose Jaw, Sask. MacFarlane, competing in the 47 kg Classic Open division, had a squat of 72.5 kg, a 42.5 kg bench, 90 kg deadlift for a total of 205 kg. She was one of 60 members on Team Canada. “It certainly was not my best performance in a meet, but I was proud to have contributed to our team’s performance,” said MacFarlane. “Each country got points for the number of athletes who took home bronze, silver and gold. Canada came away with a few team awards this year, including the female classic division, in which I was able to play a part.” It was MacFarlane’s third appearance at the North American championships.
