Gro­cery thief gets jail time

A man who stole from a gro­cery and breached sev­eral court or­ders was sen­tenced re­cently to 70 days in jail. Edgar John Keefe ap­peared be­fore Chief Judge John Dou­glas in pro­vin­cial court in Char­lot­te­town for sen­tenc­ing on four charges. Dou­glas sen­tenced him to 10 days in jail for steal­ing from the Mon­tague Su­per­store and 30 days for fail­ing to re­port to his pro­ba­tion of­fi­cer. He also sen­tenced Keefe to 30 days in jail for fail­ing to at­tend court, with all of those sen­tenced to be served con­sec­u­tively. Dou­glas added another 10 days to be served con­cur­rently for breach­ing the con­di­tions of his pro­ba­tion.
